Michigan Harvests Slowed by Wet Conditions

Michigan experienced rain and snow events accompanied by cold temperatures, according to Marlo D. Johnson, director of the Great Lakes Regional Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service. There were 3.9 days suitable for fieldwork in Michigan during the week ending Sunday.

Corn harvest was slowed due to wet conditions although progress remained ahead of the five-year average. Reported grain moisture was 18 percent, unchanged from the previous week.

Soybean harvest continued behind the five-year average. Reported soybean moisture was 16 percent, unchanged from the previous week.

Winter wheat planting made very little progress due to the unfavorable weather.

Other activities included fall tillage, hauling manure, and catching up on paperwork.
