Great Lakes Forage and Grazing Conference March 5

The Great Lakes Forage and Grazing Conference "Uncertainty in Producing Forages for 2020" will be held March 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at AgroLiquid, 3055 W M-21, St. Johns,
This program is designed to help producers learn about new and innovative ideas, approaches, and solutions to challenges in the Great Lakes Regions' forage based agriculture systems.
Keynote speaker is Mike Rankin, editor of Hay & Forage Magazine. In the morning session, he's discusss "Old dirt roads and new forage friends," while the afternoon session will tackle "The state of the alfalfa address."
Other speakers and workshops include a forage research update by Michigan State University's Dr. Kim Cassida, and a Lake City Research Update: How Forage Diversity Affects Grass-fed Beef by Logan Thompson, a Ph.D. student, as well as recent weather trends and outlooks by Dr. Jeff Andresen, MSU. The afternoon will include a panel discussion focused on dealing with rough field conditions, and the Michigan Forage Council Annual Meeting will be held, along with the Forage Spokesperson Contest.
The Forage Spokesman Contest will showcase top Michigan forage producers as they vie for the opportunity to represent Michigan at the 2021 AFGC Conference.
Early registration ends March 1. Registration includes lunch. Add $10 after early registration period ends. Early registration costs are MFC members: $45; non-MFC members: $60; and students: $20. In 2020, the Michigan Forage Council will include, with paid registration for non-members, a 1-year membership into the Michigan Forage Council
