Michigan Ag Credit Conference to Focus on Industry Outlooks, Labor

Michigan agriculture has challenges unique to its industry that are driven by labor, policy and various trends.

Building on the success of last year's conference, this year's Michigan Ag Credit Conference experts will share their insights on the pressing issues and provide an economic outlook for Michigan's agricultural economy.

The Michigan Ag Credit Conference is scheduled for Oct. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. at the Molecular Plant Sciences Building on Michigan State University's campus in East Lansing.

Designed to connect agricultural lenders, agribusinesses, policymakers, faculty experts, and industry stakeholders, this conference provides networking and learning opportunities in support of Michigan's agricultural industry.

"We're really happy to be able to host the annual Ag Credit Conference again this fall here at MSU," said Matthew Gammans, assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics at MSU.

"This year's conference brings together expertise from every part of Michigan's ag economy to explore the challenges and opportunities facing the ag banking and credit services industries. It will be exciting to see what kinds of discussions and connections happen."

• Agricultural Outlook Panel Discussion
• Succession Planning with Roger Betz & Florencia Colella from MSU Extension
• Decision-making Tools to Bridge Farm and Lender Communications with Melissa McKendree and Stan Moore from MSU
• Trends in Farm Land Values with Matt Gammans from MSU
• Agricultural Labor Outlook with Zach Rutledge from MSU

"The Michigan Agricultural Credit Conference is a long-standing outreach event for the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics," said Melissa McKendree, assistant professor in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics at MSU.

"It is an exciting opportunity that will bring together leaders from both industry and academia to discuss the major events happening in agriculture and policy and think though the economic implications."

Participants can attend in person or listen to session recordings after the conference. Registration is $130 per person for either option.
