‘Bulletins Live! Two’ Tracker Helps Farmers Follow Updated Pesticide Rules

‘Bulletins Live! Two’ Tracker Helps Farmers Follow Updated Pesticide Rules

By Andi Anderson

A new reporting tool is now available to help pesticide applicators stay informed about changing pesticide use requirements related to endangered species protection.

The Environmental Protection Agency has introduced a label directive for certain pesticides that requires applicators to check an online system called 'Bulletins Live! Two' before application.

'Bulletins Live! Two' is a live online system that determines whether additional pesticide use limitations apply based on the application location and time of year.

This system was developed to address concerns about pesticide impacts on threatened and endangered species and to respond to ongoing legal requirements. Rather than using broad restrictions, the system applies limits only where and when they are necessary.

Because 'Bulletins Live! Two' can be updated at any time and does not have a formal notification system, it can be challenging for applicators to track changes. To address this issue, Michigan State University Extension has developed a 'Bulletins Live! Two' Tracker Report. This report lists pesticide products that currently require users to consult the 'Bulletins Live! Two' system and highlights those with use limitations in Michigan.

The tracker report will be updated twice each month. It also identifies newly added products and includes a section for products that are no longer listed in the 'Bulletins Live! Two' system. However, because changes can occur between updates, products may be added or removed outside of the reporting schedule. Applicators are encouraged to review all sections carefully.

The tracker report is intended as an awareness tool only. Applicators must always follow the pesticide label and use the 'Bulletins Live! Two' system directly when required. In some cases, older product labels may still be in circulation even after changes are made online. When this occurs, the label attached to the container must be followed.

Applicators are responsible for checking whether a product label includes a 'Bulletins Live! Two' directive in the “Directions for Use” section. When required, they must visit the 'Bulletins Live! Two' website and follow any additional restrictions provided.

For county specific information on pesticide use limitations, applicators may also visit the EPA data download system. This resource shows products with mitigation requirements within selected counties but does not list all products that require checking 'Bulletins Live! Two'.

Overall, the tracker report supports safer pesticide use, better compliance, and improved protection of endangered species by helping applicators stay aware of ongoing regulatory updates.
