Michigan Farm Bureau’s 2024 State Annual Meeting, themed "At the Table," continues its hybrid event format, bringing together virtual and in-person components from Nov. 6 to Dec. 4.

The Virtual Kickoff on Nov. 6 opened with MFB President Carl Bednarski’s remarks, reports from key committee members, and updates from MFB COO Michelle Reynaert, Farm Bureau Insurance CEO Don Simon, and Treasurer Tom Nugent.

On Nov. 9, the Young Farmer Discussion Meet preliminaries narrowed down contestants to the Sweet 16. The in-person finals will take place on Dec. 3 in Grand Rapids, featuring competitors from various districts across Michigan.

District meetings are scheduled regionally from Nov. 11 to Nov. 19 for Districts 1-3 and 10-12, while Districts 4-9 will gather Dec. 3 in Grand Rapids before the Annual Meeting. During these meetings, district delegates will discuss policies and prepare for Grand Rapids’ final sessions, where policy recommendations will be presented.

The main event will be held Dec. 3-4 at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and DeVos Convention Center in Grand Rapids. It will feature final policy deliberations, social receptions, and the recognition of member achievements. Key agenda items include the Connecting Communities Showcase, Michigan Foundation for Agriculture’s Agricultural Art Gallery, and Young Farmer awards.

Dec. 3 begins with registration and Young Farmer events, including the Sweet 16 rounds, concluding with the Leadership Banquet and Young Farmer Discussion Meet finals. Highlights include the President’s Address, Educator of the Year recognition, and a retirement reception for President Bednarski.

On Dec. 4, the day starts with the AgriPac Breakfast featuring guest speaker Bill Ballenger, followed by the High School and Collegiate Discussion Meet rounds. The afternoon includes member recognition awards, the Agricultural Art Gallery silent auction, and closing delegate sessions.

The Annual Banquet caps off the event with addresses from guest speakers AFBF President Zippy Duvall and former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, recognizing distinguished service in agriculture.
