The Michigan Soybean On-Farm Research Update will take place in January 2025 across six different Michigan locations, providing valuable insights for soybean farmers, researchers, and stakeholders.
Attendees will gain insights into the findings of 2024 soybean research, explore historical climate trends affecting Michigan’s growing season, and contribute feedback on future research goals for 2025.
Each session will start with registration at 9:00 a.m., except for the Adrian location, which begins at 8:30 a.m. The event is hosted by the Michigan Soybean Checkoff program, covering all participation costs, including lunch. Pre-registration is required to ensure accurate attendance numbers and can be completed online.
Event Schedule and Topics
The agenda starts with updates from the Michigan Soybean Committee, followed by presentations from experts.
Eric Anderson, a soybean educator from Michigan State University (MSU) Extension, will present the results of the 2024 soybean research trials, sharing crucial findings that address production challenges and advancements in soybean management.
Following a short break, MSU climatologist Jeff Andresen will discuss climate trends and their impact on agriculture in the Great Lakes region, highlighting changes that Michigan soybean producers may need to consider for future planning.
Participants will also have the chance to identify and suggest potential research projects for 2025. This interactive segment will be led by MSU’s Eric Anderson and Mark Seamon, engaging attendees to provide feedback and express their research needs.

For those needing assistance with registration, the St. Joseph County Extension office is available for support. Attendees are encouraged to register online at least seven days before their preferred location’s event.
Each session concludes with a complimentary lunch and additional time for questions. Participants will also be eligible for two pesticide applicator recertification credits, providing a well-rounded and beneficial day for Michigan’s agricultural community.
