Michigan Seeks Public Input on Agricultural Guidelines

The Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development, along with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), has announced the review period for the 2024 Generally Accepted Agricultural and Management Practices (GAAMPs) drafts. They're seeking public input through email, mail, and a virtual meeting on August 25, 2023, at 1 p.m.

The GAAMPs are reviewed yearly by expert committees, with updates made as needed. Proposed changes are approved by the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development. The opportunity for public input covers eight GAAMPs areas, including Manure Management, Farm Animal Care, and Pesticide Use.

Comments are due by August 25, 2023, and will be considered by the GAAMPs Task Force Committee Chairpersons. Final draft presentation is on September 13, 2023. Visit www.Michigan.gov/RighttoFarm for drafts.
