To support producers in making informed decisions, MSU Extension Farm Business Management Educators Corey Clark and Cheri Burk are offering a series of free virtual office hours focused on farm financial recordkeeping software. These sessions are designed to help farmers who want to move beyond spreadsheets, begin using accounting software for the first time, or transition to a different financial management platform.
The virtual office hours will provide practical guidance on evaluating various accounting applications and understanding how they can benefit farm operations. Participants will learn about the strengths and weaknesses of different software options and how to use these tools more effectively to support daily financial management tasks.
Accurate financial records are essential for monitoring profitability, preparing tax information, managing cash flow, and making strategic business decisions. The free virtual sessions will be held on October 14, November 4, December 2, January 6, and February 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Farmers may attend one or more sessions depending on their interests and needs.
In addition to the scheduled office hours, individual consultations are available for farmers requiring more detailed assistance or those unable to participate during the designated times. These personalized discussions allow producers to address specific financial management questions and evaluate software solutions tailored to their operations.
Advance registration is required for participation. The program is provided as a free educational service through Michigan State University Extension, reflecting the organization's commitment to supporting farm business success through education and practical resources.
