MSU Launches Pesticide Safety Webinar Series for Applicators

MSU Launches Pesticide Safety Webinar Series for Applicators

By Andi Anderson

The Michigan State University (MSU) Pesticide Safety Education Program (PSEP) has announced the launch of its first Pesticide Safety Webinar Series: The RUP Credit Clinic, aimed at helping certified pesticide applicators across Michigan maintain their credentials and strengthen their knowledge of safe pesticide use.

Running throughout fall 2025 and winter 2026, the online series will be held on the first Monday and Wednesday of each month. A total of ten webinars will be offered via Zoom, giving participants a convenient and flexible option to earn Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) recertification credits from anywhere in the state.

Each webinar day will feature four sessions—two in the morning and two in the afternoon—covering core safety topics, Bulletins Live Two (BLT) updates, and category-specific sessions. Applicators can earn up to four RUP recertification credits per day, with two credits available for each session block.

The program will feature presentations from pesticide safety experts and regulatory specialists who will provide practical insights on application practices, safety compliance, and environmental protection.

The sessions are designed to ensure applicators remain informed about current Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and EPA guidelines.

“Providing a flexible, high-quality training option helps applicators meet recertification needs while promoting responsible pesticide use,” the MSU PSEP team stated. Participants can interact live with instructors, ask questions, and access educational resources throughout the series.

For information about registration, available credits, and session topics, visit the MSU PSEP Recertification webpage through MSU Online Events with RUP Credits.

This initiative is supported by Project GREEEN (GR25-052) from AgBioResearch and MSU Extension, in partnership with MDARD and the Western Integrated Pest Management Center. For certification manuals or exam details, visit the MSU PSEP website.
