MSU's Entrepreneur Leadership High School Camp

MSU's Entrepreneur Leadership High School Camp

By Andi Anderson

MSU's Burgess Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Multicultural Business Programs (MBP) join forces to create a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs: the Entrepreneur Leadership High School Camp. This collaborative initiative, founded in 2022, aims to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit in high school students and provide them with the tools they need to succeed.

The upcoming 2024 camp, scheduled for June 24 to 27, offers rising high school sophomores and juniors an immersive experience in entrepreneurship at the Broad College of Business. Registration is open until April 2024.

Led by industry experts like Dr. Nick Weshinskey, the camp features workshops and seminars covering various topics, from marketing strategies to financial planning. Participants engage in hands-on activities, design business plans, and receive guidance from seasoned entrepreneurs. The goal is to instill an entrepreneurial mindset and equip students with essential skills for future success.

The camp prioritizes access and inclusion, welcoming students from diverse backgrounds across Michigan. Through partnerships with community leaders and business professionals, the program aims to broaden participants' perspectives on entrepreneurship and innovation.

Alumni involvement, including keynote speeches and mentorship opportunities, enriches the camp experience. Notably, the Chapman Family Foundation's support as the Presenting Sponsor ensures the camp's sustainability and impact over the next three years.

For past participants like Anjali Issac, the camp served as a springboard to future success. Now a supply chain management major at MSU, Issac credits the camp for bolstering her confidence and shaping her academic journey.

As the Entrepreneur Leadership High School Camp continues to expand, its impact on young entrepreneurs grows exponentially. Through a blend of education, mentorship, and hands-on experience, the camp paves the way for a new generation of business leaders.
