C3 Summit to Celebrate Clean Tech, Climate Tech, Circular Economy Tech



Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Director Liesl Clark is among the speakers highlighted Aug. 25 at C3 Summit: Michigan's Showcase of Cleantech, Climatech and Circular Economy Technology Companies and Leaders, presented by Lawrence Technological University's Centrepolis Accelerator.

The summit will showcase leaders in the industry and companies being supported through the growth-stage C3 Accelerator program managed by Centrepolis, along with details on the changing landscape of cleantech innovation and funding opportunities. Featured speakers also include Ashley Grosh, vice president of Breakthrough Energy Fellows, and David Howell, acting director and principal deputy director of the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains.

The event will be held at The Mint at Michigan First Conference Center, 27000 Evergreen Rd., from noon to 7 p.m. Aug. 25.

The summit will feature 30-plus exhibits, including this year's pitching companies, ventures that pitched in the inaugural C3 Showcase last year, and other prominent Michigan-based companies making a positive impact on climate. EGLE and Centrepolis are co-sponsoring awards in the form of investments for Best C3 Growth-Stage Company ($25,000), Runner Up C3 Growth-Stage Company ($10,000), Best C3 Early-Stage Company ($25,000), Runner Up C3 Early-Stage Company ($10,000). Ward Law is sponsoring a $5,000 grant for a People's Choice Award.

EGLE commitments to a cleaner and more sustainable environment include funding the C3 Accelerator, whose $2.6 million seed fund supports product development and scaling of clean tech, climate tech, and circular economy technologies. EGLE also recently published the MI Healthy Climate Plan to achieve a prosperous carbon-neutral Michigan economy by 2050. Michigan Clean Energy Asset Roadmap drafts also are underway, identifying opportunities for wind, solar, geothermal, and other clean energy technologies and accelerating their implementation and growth within industrial and commercial sectors.
