Funding Opportunity for Rural Michigan Projects

Funding Opportunity for Rural Michigan Projects

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) is offering a new opportunity for rural communities in the state. The Office of Rural Development (ORD) has launched the second round of request for proposals for competitive grants through the Rural Readiness Grant Program (RRPG).

This grant program aims to support community-specific solutions that enhance capacity and readiness in Michigan's rural areas. The focus is on addressing challenges such as broadband expansion and affordable housing to help rural businesses and communities thrive.

Director Tim Boring and Governor Whitmer are committed to developing and supporting innovative solutions for rural communities. The RRPG grants will provide funding of up to $50,000 for collaborative planning and capacity-building initiatives in underserved rural areas. The goal is to invest in these communities, promote development readiness, and foster collaboration and partnerships across sectors.

Eligible communities and organizations interested in this funding opportunity must submit a Letter of Intent outlining their proposed project and how it aligns with the program's goals. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2023.

MDARD's Office of Rural Development is excited to work with local leaders in planning for prosperity in rural Michigan. For more information and to check eligibility criteria, visit www.michigan.gov/ord.
