The United States is going through a tough time with drought conditions. About 71% of the corn crop, covering nearly 74 million acres, is affected, along with two-thirds of soybean acres.
For corn, 16% of the crop is facing drought, and another 14% is in dry conditions. That's around 15 million acres of corn in drought and a total of 28 million acres facing dry or drought conditions.
Soybeans are also in trouble, experiencing the most severe drought since 2012. On average, 13% of soybeans face some degree of drought each year, along with 14% in dry conditions.
Even though this drought is similar to 2012, there are some differences in the levels of severity. Farmers are concerned and need to closely monitor the situation to protect their crops and livelihoods.
