By Andi Anderson

Michigan State University Extension (MSU Extension), in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the MSU Pesticide Safety Educator Program, is hosting an in-person pesticide review and certification session on February 12, 2025. This event will take place at Montcalm Community College in Sidney, Michigan.

The program includes a four-hour review of the National Pesticide Applicators Certification Core Manual, designed to prepare participants for the afternoon certification exam. The review class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by a testing session with MDARD at 1 p.m. Lunch is provided during the event.

Participants are encouraged to read and study the core manual in advance. Manuals can be ordered or obtained from the Montcalm County Extension Office in Stanton, Michigan. Contact the office at 989-831-7500 for availability.

The cost for the review class is $25, payable to Michigan State University. Payments can be made online during registration, mailed as per the confirmation instructions, or brought to the session.

Certification fees are separate and payable to the State of Michigan. The fees include $75 for Commercial Applicators, $50 for Private Applicators, and $45 for Registered Applicators. Veterans with a DD214 form are eligible for a fee waiver for Private Applicator certification.

Postage-paid envelopes for mailing certification payments will be provided at the session. Note that cash or credit card payments are not accepted for certification fees.

This event offers a valuable opportunity for individuals seeking certification or recertification in pesticide application, equipping them with essential knowledge and professional credentials. Register now to secure your spot and gain valuable insights into pesticide safety.
