The Michiana Irrigated Corn and Soybean Conference is set for March 5 at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds Ag Hall in Goshen, Indiana. Hosted by Michigan State University Extension and Purdue University Extension, this annual event focuses on improving crop and irrigation management for growers near the Michigan-Indiana state line.
This year’s conference will address essential topics such as water use, nutrient efficiency, weed control, and disease management in corn and soybean farming.
Attendees can earn three Michigan Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) credits, 4.5 Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) credits, and Indiana’s continuing certification hours (CCH) and private applicator recertification program (PARP) credits.
The conference agenda includes sessions by industry experts:
- Fertilizer and economics, Kurt Steinke, Jon LaPorte and Jeff Burbrink
- Irrigation water savings and management, Younsuk Dong, Angie Gradiz and Lyndon Kelley
- Climate change and effects on irrigated agriculture, Beth Hall
- Managing disease under irrigation, Marty Chilvers
- Maximizing full-season weed control, Tommy Butts
Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., with the conference running until 4 p.m. Lunch will be provided for attendees. Thanks to the Michigan Soybean Committee and Corn Marketing Program of Michigan, early registration costs only $25 until February 25. Afterward, the cost increases to $35.
