Succession planning is a messy but necessary topic for ensuring the future of your farm. Join Michigan State University Extension for the Thumb Farm Succession Planning Meeting on July 27 to learn more about both the technical aspects and the human side of succession planning. This meeting will run 3 hours, giving you the opportunity to ask questions from both those who have assisted farms with the planning process as well as t those who have successfully gone through the process.
The meeting will begin with the local MSU Extension Farm Management Educator, Corey Clark, giving an overview of succession planning. We will then include some anecdotes from Stan Moore from MSU Extension who has helped farms with succession planning for a number of years. For those who are interested in the technical side, Attorney Michael Fraleigh will go over the tools available to use in the process. And finally, a producer panel will answer any questions you have on what they learned going through the planning process.
This meeting will be held in person at Sanilac Community Health. This event is limited to the first 40 people to register due to room size. If you plan to attend, please be sure to register all individuals that you plan to bring with you. For help registering contact Shelly Sowles at sowles@msu.edu or 989-249-9949.
