Michigan Seeks Outstanding Ag Exporter for 2024 Award

Michigan’s thriving agricultural sector is once again in the spotlight as the state opens applications for the 2024 Michigan Ag Exporter of the Year award. This coveted recognition celebrates businesses that have excelled in international markets, contributing significantly to Michigan’s global footprint.

Eligibility Criteria:

• To qualify, companies must be based in Michigan and actively engaged in exporting food, agriculture, or forest products.

• Their products should be at least 50% grown, processed, or manufactured in Michigan.

Application Deadline: Interested businesses, regardless of size, have until 5 p.m. on March 29, 2024, to submit their applications.

Previous Honoree: Last year, the prestigious title went to Zeeland Farm Services Inc., a testament to their outstanding achievements in export growth.

Director’s Perspective: MDARD Director Tim Boring emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting businesses that thrive globally. “When businesses succeed in Michigan,” he stated, “we want to uplift their accomplishments.”

Since its inception in 2006, the Michigan Ag Exporter of the Year Award has recognized exceptional companies across the state. Previous winners include Citizens Elevator, Kamps Hardwoods, Sklarczyk Seed Farm, Dr. John’s Candies, Bayside Best Beans, Star of the West Milling, Continental Dairy, Connor Sports, Graceland Fruit, Cherry Central, Zeeland Farm Service (twice), Walters Gardens, Honee Bear Canning, Cooperative Elevator Company, and Michigan Apple.
