Michigan Ag Connection - 02/11/2020

State Treasurer Rachael Eubanksannounced Michiganders, state agencies, community partners and key stakeholders will continue a statewide conversation this month about the role financial empowerment has in shaping Michigan's future.

At the State of Michigan MI Financial Empowerment Forum scheduled at Lansing Community College from 1-4 p.m. on Feb. 21, a panel of experts will present on financial topics related to various phases in life. Attendees will engage in conversation with experts and share resources and the best practices related to important role financial empowerment has in recalibrating how we view money.

The discussion will be moderated by the state treasurer. Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist is scheduled to provide remarks.

"After such a successful session in Southeast Michigan last fall, we are bringing this discussion to the Lansing area so we can discuss how our financial needs evolve throughout our lives, and how we can best financially empower individuals, families and communities through statewide coordination," State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks said. "If we work together and align our work, we will have a much greater impact providing opportunity to all Michiganders."

The forum is free and open to the public, with key stakeholders providing insight and expertise to begin working on the development of financial education tools and resources to best meet the needs of Michiganders in all phases of life.

While there is no cost to attend, registration is required due to limited space. Individuals interested in attending should register no later than noon on Feb. 19.
