Much of Michigan Farm Bureau's (MFB) Harvest for All program success has been driven by the efforts of District 11's members for the second consecutive year. Comprised of Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Otsego, and Presque Isle counties, District 11 donated more than 15,700 pounds of commodities and food, volunteered 656 hours, and contributed $42,221 in financial donations to the program in 2022. District 11's contributions accounted for over half of the total volunteer hours donated by county Farm Bureau members across the state.
Harvest for All aims to help neighbors in need by encouraging Farm Bureau members to donate surplus agricultural commodities, non-perishable food products, money, and/or volunteer hours to local food banks. The program is coordinated by MFB's State Young Farmer Committee, and Michigan Farm Bureau members have been feeding the state for 18 consecutive years.
MFB's Young Farmer Leadership Conference, Christian Tollini of District 11 accepted a $1,000 prize on behalf of the district. The prize will be donated to the St. Thomas Food Pantry, which is part of St. Thomas Lutheran Church and serves hundreds of individuals in Cheboygan County in need of food every week.
The Harvest for All program allows Michigan Farm Bureau members to share agriculture's bounty with those who need it most. District 11's contributions for two years in a row demonstrate the positive impact that can be made when communities come together to support each other.
