Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Wheat Program are hosting regional wheat field days in Huron and Isabella counties this May. These events provide a unique opportunity for wheat farmers and enthusiasts to connect with experts and stay updated on the latest advancements in wheat research.
The first field day will be held on May 23 at Hauck Seed Farms in Isabella County. The second field day takes place on May 25 in Huron County, hosted by Darwin Sneller. Led by Eric Olson, the MSU wheat breeder, and Dennis Pennington, the MSU Extension wheat specialist, these field days offer an informal and interactive setting.
Participants will have the chance to explore local variety trials and engage in one-on-one discussions with experts. Topics will include current research projects, wheat breeding techniques, and strategies for improving wheat production. Attendees are encouraged to bring samples of poor-looking wheat for diagnosis and personalized guidance.
These regional field days are open to all interested individuals, with no registration required. The events will provide valuable insights, networking opportunities, and two restricted use pesticide credits for core and 1A. Light refreshments will be provided by the Michigan Wheat Program.
Mark your calendars for the regional wheat field days on May 23 and May 25. Join fellow wheat enthusiasts in Isabella and Huron counties to stay informed about the latest developments in wheat farming.
