A free webinar series will focus on how issues related to changing climate and sustainability practices impact tourism in Michigan, along with suggestions your community can take to address these issues in your tourism and community development efforts.
Michigan State University (MSU) Extension tourism educators are excited to offer the upcoming free online seminar series "Critical Conversations in Michigan Tourism: Sustainability and Climate Change." This series will focus on how issues related to changing climate and sustainability practices impact tourism in Michigan, and will suggest some steps your community can take to address these issues in your tourism and community development efforts.
Sessions will include an overview of climate change and the Great Lakes, the impact of climate change on winter outdoor recreation, climate adaptation planning for local units of government, and possible funding sources for climate adaptation.
All sessions are free and will be recorded for later viewing, but you must register to receive the link. Sessions will take place Wednesdays from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Eastern Nov. 16 and 30, and Dec. 7 and 14.
The objective of this series is to give our local tourism stakeholders new and actionable information and strategies to strengthen sustainability efforts and address emerging issues related to climate change.
