Food Export Midwest and MDARD Bring International Buyers to Michigan

By Andi Anderson

The Food Export Association of the Midwest and the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) are teaming up to bring approximately 15 international buyers to Michigan for the Summer in the Cities Buyers’ Mission. Scheduled for July 29-30, 2024, in Grand Rapids, this event aims to facilitate connections between Michigan businesses and experienced international buyers.

MDARD Director Tim Boring expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the opportunity for Michigan companies to showcase their products to buyers from diverse international markets. With representatives from over 15 different countries expected to attend, the event offers valuable networking opportunities for industry professionals seeking to expand their export reach.

According to Jamie Zmitko-Somers, MDARD's Agriculture Development Bureau Director, events like these play a crucial role in promoting Michigan-made products on a global scale. By fostering connections between local businesses and international partners, MDARD aims to strengthen partnerships and increase opportunities for Michigan products in global markets.

Early registration for the event is open until May 22, 2024, with a registration fee of $325, including a networking lunch with buyers. The event will feature a wide range of products, including snacks, alcoholic beverages, fruits, dry beans, and dairy products. Profiles of attending buyers and additional information can be found on the 2024 Summer in the Cities Buyers Mission - Grand Rapids Stop page.

For further details or inquiries, interested parties are encouraged to contact the International Marketing Team at MDARD-AgD@michigan.gov.
