Soybean growers have spent months managing their crops and working to achieve a successful harvest. However, important decisions still remain before the season comes to an end. To help farmers navigate these final challenges, Science for Success is offering a free national webinar focused on late-season soybean management.
The webinar, titled Soybeans Down the Stretch: Managing Late-Season Challenges, is scheduled for July 23, 2026, and will bring together leading soybean researchers from universities across the United States. The program is designed to provide practical, research-based information that can help producers make informed decisions as harvest approaches.
Participants will learn about strategies for addressing common late-season issues that can affect soybean yield and quality. Topics will include crop management practices, pest concerns, harvest preparation, and approaches for handling challenges that may develop during the final stages of the growing season.
A major focus of the event will be a question-and-answer session, giving growers an opportunity to interact directly with experts and receive guidance on specific concerns. The webinar is expected to last approximately one hour, with much of the session dedicated to audience questions.
The expert panel will feature Rachel Vann, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Moderator; Justin Calhoun, Mississippi State University; Seth Naeve, University of Minnesota; and Christy Sprague, Michigan State University Extension Specialist.
These experts will share insights based on their research and field experience working with soybean production systems across different regions.
In addition to management discussions, attendees will receive updates on recent national research projects examining soybean desiccation practices and harvest timing. Research presentations will be delivered by Mark Kendall, University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Prabath Senanayaka Mudiyanselage, Ohio State University.
The webinar also offers professional development opportunities. Certified Crop Advisers (CCAs) who participate can earn 0.5 Crop Management and 0.5 Integrated Pest Management continuing education units.
Science for Success is a collaborative effort involving more than 20 land-grant universities. The initiative works to deliver the latest research findings and best management practices directly to soybean farmers across the country.
Supported by the Soy Checkoff, the program helps ensure growers have access to reliable information that can improve productivity and profitability.
As harvest season approaches, timely management decisions can have a significant impact on crop performance. This webinar provides an excellent opportunity for soybean producers to gain expert knowledge, stay informed about current research, and prepare for late-season challenges.
By participating, growers can strengthen their understanding of soybean management and make more confident decisions in the final stages of the growing season.
