By Andi Anderson

The Michigan Wheat Program and Michigan State University Extension will host the 14th annual Winter Grower Meeting on February 25, 2025. This event will be held at the Michigan State University Saginaw Valley Research and Extension Center in Frankenmuth, Michigan, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The meeting offers wheat growers a chance to network, attend expert presentations, and visit industry exhibits. Topics include high-yield strategies, new wheat varieties, industry updates, and insights into emerging agricultural policies. Restricted use pesticide (RUP) and certified crop adviser (CCA) credits are pending.

“We are excited to share strategies and advancements that can boost wheat yields,” said Jeffery Krohn, Michigan Wheat Program Chairman. “This year’s lineup emphasizes practical tips and global insights.”

The agenda features presentations on the Yield Enhancement Network (YEN) by a top-producing UK grower, new wheat varieties, and Michigan’s wheat production potential.

Other highlights include awarding the Michigan Wheat Yield Contest winners and updates on the state’s milling industry and the Michigan Wheat Program.

Attendance is free for wheat growers and stakeholders, but pre-registration is required. Participants can register online at miwheat.org or by contacting Jody Pollok-Newsom at 1-888-WHEAT01 or jody@miwheat.org.

This event underscores the Michigan Wheat Program’s dedication to advancing wheat production and supporting farmers. With nearly 8,000 wheat farmers across Michigan, the program continues to fund research and educational initiatives to promote sustainable and profitable wheat farming.

Growers are encouraged to attend and gain valuable insights into strategies for the 2025 growing season. The Michigan Wheat Program is committed to helping farmers achieve their best harvests yet.
