MSU Extension Hosts Heifer Management Webinar Series for Dairy Farmers

MSU Extension Dairy Educator Cora Okkema is hosting a free webinar series on heifer management, covering essential topics such as hygiene, colostrum management, calf transportation, and vaccinations.

The sessions will take place every Wednesday at 11 a.m. from April 2 to May 7. Each webinar will feature an industry expert sharing insights on best practices for raising healthy calves.

The series aims to help dairy farmers improve calf care, focusing on early-life management strategies that promote long-term health and productivity. Every session will conclude with a live Q&A, allowing participants to engage with experts and seek practical advice.

The scheduled topics and speakers include:

  • April 9: Hygiene and Colostrum Management – Jennifer Bentley
  • April 16: Calf Transportation – Catie Cramer
  • April 23: Vaccinations – Angel Abuelo
  • April 30: Youngstock Care – Jennifer Walker
  • May 7: Calf Care Quality Assurance Program Overview

Farmers and dairy professionals only need to register once to access all six sessions. Those unable to attend live sessions can watch recordings on YouTube and Spotify.

This educational series provides valuable guidance on effective heifer management, ensuring better calf health and farm efficiency. Farmers can register online and stay updated on the latest dairy farming practices.
