Michigan apple producers and industry professionals are invited to join Michigan State University (MSU) Extension for a one-hour webinar on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 12 p.m., where experts will review findings from the 2025 Michigan Apple Cost of Production Study.
The session will provide growers with an in-depth look at the study’s main results, including establishment, production, and harvest costs for Michigan orchards. Participants will gain insight into both high-density and semidwarf apple training systems, as well as cost comparisons between high-value varieties like Honeycrisp and mid-value varieties such as Gala and Fuji.
During the webinar, MSU specialists will walk through how to interpret the cost tables and calculate breakeven prices and per-bushel costs for different yield levels. The presentation will also demonstrate how growers can apply the study’s data to their own farm operations by adjusting figures based on their production systems and financial goals.
“This session is designed to help producers better understand their cost structure and make informed management decisions,” said MSU Extension educators. “Accurate cost analysis is key to building financial resilience and long-term profitability in Michigan’s apple industry.”
The event is part of the Farm Policy & Risk Management webinar series, which provides Michigan farmers with economic and policy tools for effective farm planning. Registration is required to attend the live session, but a recording will be available afterward on the MSU Extension website for those unable to participate in real time.
