Michigan State University Extension invites blueberry growers to attend the 2025 Preharvest Blueberry Extension Twilight Meeting on Monday, June 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at DeGrandchamp Farms in South Haven, Michigan.
This in-person event provides growers with timely insights on pest and disease management, new plantings, irrigation strategies, and a chance to visit active research plots. Attendees will benefit from presentations by MSU specialists and receive two restricted use pesticide credits.
The agenda includes presentations by:
- Cheyenne Sloan – Weed management in blueberries
- Carlos Garcia – Thrips scouting and management
- Rufus Isaacs – Integrated pest management for spotted wing drosophila and blueberry maggot
- Josh VanderWeide – DeGrandchamp soil moisture and berry development project update
- Younsuk Dong – Fertigation and pulse irrigation
- Tim Miles – Late season disease management
For those unable to attend in person, a webinar will be held on Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m., offering the same program. This is ideal for growers in west central Michigan or those with schedule conflicts.
Registration is free, and attendees are encouraged to pre-register online to help organizers plan handouts and refreshments. Onsite check-in starts at 5:30 p.m., with pizza provided before the meeting.
For more information or accommodations, contact Carlos Garcia (garcias4@msu.edu) in Ottawa County or Cheyenne Sloan (sloanche@msu.edu) in Van Buren County. Please notify at least 72 hours in advance for any special needs.
This event is funded by the USDA Crop Protection and Pest Management Program and supports informed, sustainable blueberry production in Michigan.
