Student Organic Farm Now Offering Fall CSA

The Community Supported Agriculture seasonal membership is available now.

The Student Organic Farm (SOF) of Michigan State University is now offering their Fall Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. The share season runs Aug. 26-Dec. 16 and costs $576 for a full share or $340 for a half share.

CSAs are seasonal memberships to the farm. At the beginning of each season, the CSA members pay in advance for a weekly share of vegetables from the farm. This model benefits the farm's cash-flow and allows the farm to purchase supplies needed to produce their crops in some of the financially tightest months of the year. Members receive a variety of produce each week, which exposes them to new vegetables they may not otherwise experience. The SOF is able to curate shares based on what is abundant any given week. They keep records to ensure their members receive the value of what they paid for at the start of the season.

This CSA is also directly supporting transformational learning opportunities to MSU students who grow the produce with staff supervision.

There are two options for picking up your produce: a drive-through distribution on the farm, as well as a pick-up on campus in front of Bailey Greenhouse. Both options are low-contact methods developed last year to minimize any Covid risk. Staff are also able to arrange for a drop off to offices, sorority or fraternity houses, as well as local residences if there is group of 5 or more members interested in picking up there.
