The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended the deadline for the 2024 Census of Horticultural Specialties, allowing growers to submit responses until April 18, 2025.
Conducted every five years, this census is the only source of comprehensive data on U.S. floriculture, nurseries, greenhouse food crops, and specialty horticultural industries.
The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) is urging producers to complete their surveys online at agcounts.usda.gov or by mail.
The online option is accessible on most devices, offering automatic calculations and skipping non-relevant questions to save time.
Producers who received the survey but no longer operate in horticulture or need assistance can call (888) 424-7828 to update their records. Federal law requires participation in the census, but NASS ensures all individual responses remain confidential.
The 2024 data will build on the findings from the 2022 Census of Agriculture, providing insights into production, sales, crop value, and industry expenses. The final report is scheduled for release on December 16, 2025, at nass.usda.gov/AgCensus.
