The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) and the Michigan Horse Racing Advisory Commission (HRAC) have announced that proposals for the 2026 Equine Grant Program will be accepted through February 27, 2026, at 5 p.m. ET.
This program, established under Michigan’s Horse Racing Law of 1995, provides up to $125,000 in annual funding to support a range of equine-related initiatives.
Eligible projects may include the promotion and marketing of horse racing, equine research, horse support and aftercare programs, and other equine or horse racing activities.
Applicants must meet specific requirements, including being in good standing with the State of Michigan, providing financial statements from the prior fiscal year, and having been in operation for at least two years. Detailed program guidelines, eligibility criteria, and application instructions are available on the MDARD website.
Grant proposals are subject to a competitive evaluation process conducted by a review committee. Selected recipients will be announced in April 2026, with funding distributed on a cost reimbursement basis.
Entities interested in applying should ensure their proposals are submitted by the February 27 deadline to be considered. For additional information regarding the Equine Grant Program or the application process, contact MDARD at MDARD-Equine@michigan.gov.
