Free Pesticide Safety CEU Classes

Free Pesticide Safety CEU Classes

By Andi Anderson

Michigan State University Extension is offering a comprehensive virtual Pesticide Safety Education Program designed for pesticide applicators, agricultural professionals, and crop advisers. This online webinar series provides science-based training focused on pesticide safety, environmental protection, and proper application practices. The program is free to attend for learning purposes. Participants who wish to earn Restricted Use Pesticide (RUP) credits or Certified Crop Adviser Continuing Education Units (CCA CEUs) can do so by paying a small registration fee.

The series covers important topics such as compliance with Endangered Species Act regulations, pesticide label understanding, pollinator protection, drift management, soil and water protection, equipment use, and personal protective equipment. It also includes sessions on drone use, herbicide resistance, disease management, and new digital tools for pesticide application and safety planning.

Webinars are held live through Zoom. Each event day includes two morning and two afternoon sessions. Participants can earn two credits for attending a morning session, two credits for attending an afternoon session, or four credits for attending both sessions on a single day. Certified Crop Advisers can also earn CEUs in multiple approved categories depending on the sessions they attend.

To receive credits, participants must pre-register before the webinar date and remain present for the full duration of their selected sessions. Pre- and post-session quizzes are included to measure learning progress and confirm participation. Registration for credit closes at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day of each webinar.

The credit fee is $17 for one session or $30 for both sessions on the same day. Those seeking RUP or CEU credits must complete the appropriate registration forms and submit payment in advance.

The webinar schedule runs from December through March and features experts from universities, government agencies, and extension programs. Sessions provide practical guidance to help improve pesticide safety, protect water and wildlife, and support responsible farm management.

Cancellations must be submitted in writing at least two days before the event. No refunds are available outside this policy. This program offers a valuable opportunity for agricultural professionals to stay informed, compliant, and safe through structured online learning.
