Corteva Agriscience, a leading agriculture solutions provider, is set to elevate soybean protection with the launch of Viatude™ fungicide. This cutting-edge solution aims to combat the pervasive threat of white mold disease, a significant challenge for soybean farmers across the northern regions of the United States. The exciting announcement took place on the opening day of the Farm Progress Show in Decatur, Illinois.
White mold disease poses a substantial risk to soybean crops, causing substantial yield losses that amount to millions of dollars annually. Clark Smith, U.S. Fungicides Product Manager at Corteva Agriscience, highlighted the gravity of the issue: "Soybean farmers in the northern geography contend with white mold as one of the most critical crop diseases. Its detrimental impact on yield and profitability necessitates innovative solutions."
Viatude™ fungicide emerges as a beacon of hope for these farmers. By integrating two potent modes of action against white mold, Viatude™ offers an all-in-one premix solution that seamlessly combines efficacy with convenience. Drawing from the proven disease control and performance of Onmira™ active featured in Aproach® fungicide, Viatude™ fungicide goes beyond by incorporating prothioconazole. This addition augments the defense against white mold and fosters robust plant health.
The comprehensive protection provided by Viatude™ fungicide operates on both preventive and curative levels, minimizing the risk of disease infection. Notably, the formulation ensures the endurance of vigorous soybean growth throughout the year. "Viatude™ fungicide boasts exceptional plant coverage," elucidated Smith. "Its rapid absorption and translocation, coupled with its four movement properties, envelop leaves and stems swiftly, fortifying plant health and enhancing yield potential."
For maximum efficacy, farmers can adopt a two-pass system, coupling Viatude™ fungicide with Aproach® fungicide. This strategic approach, coupled with other Integrated Pest Management practices, serves as a powerful deterrent against disease resistance development.
With federal regulatory approval secured in late 2022, Viatude™ fungicide has gained the green light from key northern soybean-producing states. Its effectiveness extends to canola crops as well. While a limited supply is accessible this year for northern U.S. soybean states, the availability of Viatude™ fungicide is anticipated to grow in 2024, reinforcing its commitment to protecting soybean crops and securing farmers' livelihoods.
