Farm Bureau Insurance of Michigan’s Agent Charitable Fund (ACF) and the Michigan Farm Bureau Family of Companies (MFBFoC) are taking big steps to fight food insecurity across the state. In April, they awarded over $31,000 in hunger-relief grants to both nonprofits and schools through their Feeding the Future and Agents for Change grant programs.
Ten nonprofit organizations across Michigan were selected for Feeding the Future Grants, which were nominated by local Farm Bureau Insurance agents. These grants support programs like weekend food bags, food pantries, after-school meals, and pop-up food trucks. Notable recipients include:
- Alpha Grand Rapids (baby food and formula)
- Ascension Lutheran Church, Saginaw (weekend food for kids)
- Catholic Charities, Lansing (Cristo Rey Food Pantry)
- Mattawan Wildpaks (weekend packs for students)
- Michigan House of Hope, Sandusky (food truck aid for families)
Meanwhile, five schools were chosen for Agents for Change Grants, which fund school hunger-relief and agricultural education programs.
Schools like Bay City Public Schools will use their funds to host the FARM Science Lab, while others such as Davison Community Schools and Traverse City Area Public Schools will support weekend and in-school snack programs.
Eligible recipients were selected based on community need, program goals, and nomination by local agents. Both grant programs continue accepting applications through Friday, June 6. Schools and nonprofits can learn more and apply by using the Farm Bureau’s Find an Agent tool.
These grants help feed Michigan’s children and families while strengthening public understanding of agriculture — a win for both the community and the future of farming.
