Farm Employers Leadership Training Workshop

Farm Employers Leadership Training Workshop

By Andi Anderson

Farm employers and agricultural managers are invited to attend a leadership training workshop designed to strengthen workforce management skills. The program is organized by Michigan State University Extension and will provide practical guidance for managing farm teams effectively.

The interactive workshop will be led by MSU Extension Educator Phil Durst. It will focus on building strong leadership skills that help improve daily operations on farms.

Topics include clear communication, effective conflict resolution, and strategies for creating a positive and productive work environment. These skills are essential for maintaining a motivated workforce and reducing misunderstandings in the workplace.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, practical activities, and guided learning sessions. The interactive format allows attendees to share experiences and gain real world insights that can be applied immediately on their farms.

A free workbook will be provided to all participants to support continued learning after the workshop.

The training session will take place in West Branch, Michigan. It will be held at a local community facility that is accessible to area farmers and agricultural managers.

The workshop is scheduled for mid January 2026 and will run for two and a half hours, making it a convenient opportunity for busy farm operators to improve leadership skills in a short amount of time.

Farm employers are encouraged to register in advance to reserve their spot. Registration is required by the start of the event. Interested participants can register by contacting the MSU Extension educator directly by email or phone.

This leadership workshop supports professional development for farm employers by strengthening communication skills, improving conflict resolution methods, and promoting effective management practices.

These skills help create respectful workplaces, increase productivity, and support long term success for agricultural businesses.

By attending this workshop, farm employers can gain practical tools to manage employees more effectively, improve workplace relationships, and build a positive team culture that supports both business goals and employee well being.
