Gov. Whitmer Names New Dairy Market Experts

By Andi Anderson

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a series of appointments and reappointments to the state’s Dairy Market Program Committee, ensuring that a diverse group of county Farm Bureau members will help shape dairy market policies until the end of 2027.

Among the new selections is Tim Hood from Van Buren County, whose operation, Hood Farms, continues to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association. Amy Martin of Osceola County, owner of Gingrich Meadows Inc. Dairy Farm and a dairy technology graduate from Michigan State University, has also been reappointed to serve the same association. In Clinton County, Dwight Nash, a co-owner of Nash Dairy Farm, remains dedicated to representing Independent Milk Cooperatives.

Additionally, Eric Bleich of Hillsdale County steps into his role for the Michigan Milk Producers Association. A former feed technician with a background in dairy management from MSU and holding a pesticide applicator license, Bleich takes over from Kenneth Wieber after his term expired. Representing the Michigan Farm Bureau from Kent County, Renee McCauley, who owns Tumbleweed Dairy and holds a degree in agriculture and natural resources communications, has been reappointed to the committee.

These changes bring fresh perspectives and continuity to the committee, which already includes experienced growers from several counties such as Ogemaw, Osceola, Clinton, Hillsdale, Branch, Saginaw, and Washtenaw. Collectively, the committee’s members will work to support and guide the state’s dairy industry, leveraging their local expertise and deep industry knowledge.
