Michigan AgrAbility 2023 success story

Michigan AgrAbility 2023 success story

By Andi Anderson

Michigan AgrAbility achieved a milestone, surpassing their goal by meeting with 215 clients. The year-end survey revealed an outstanding 84% satisfaction rate, with clients praising the 'excellent' assistive technology and modifications provided. Notably, communication between AgrAbility staff and clients received a remarkable 95% approval.

Collaboration with MSU’s Mechanical Engineering Capstone Course brought forth ingenious solutions like a self-propelled beehive lifting mechanism and an adjustable modular tractor step system, addressing farmers' unique needs. The ongoing partnership with Heroes to Hives emphasizes their dedication to tackling agricultural challenges.

Through strategic outreach, the program engaged with 15,000 individuals at 18 events, distributing 1000 brochures. Direct letters from MSU’s Occupational and Environmental Medicine division played a vital role in reaching potential clients.

Funding and support were pivotal, with Michigan Rehabilitation Services contributing $392,056 in 2023. Generous donations from Easterseals MORC, Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR) fraternity, and corporate sponsors like Greenstone, EOTECH, State Farm, and The Andersons exceeded $30,000.

Media coverage, including the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity's Beef Preview Show, garnered attention from Michigan Farm News, reaching 48,000 active members.

Michigan AgrAbility's impactful initiatives and collaborative spirit are transforming the lives of farmers, making agriculture more accessible and inclusive.
