The Michigan Wheat Program is set to host its 14th Annual Winter Grower Meeting on February 25 at the MSU Saginaw Valley Research & Extension Center in Frankenmuth. Running from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., this free event is designed for wheat growers and industry stakeholders to gain insights, updates, and practical tips for enhancing wheat production.
The meeting kicks off with registration, a continental breakfast, and an industry tradeshow. Presentations begin at 9 a.m., featuring a dynamic mix of topics aimed at boosting wheat yields and addressing key industry issues. Jeffery Krohn, chairman of the Michigan Wheat Program, emphasized the importance of the event, stating, “Our focus is on helping growers improve their wheat yields with practical insights and innovative solutions.”
Key sessions include insights from Dr. Eric Olson on new wheat varieties, global yield advancements by Mark Stubbs from the United Kingdom, and updates on Michigan’s wheat yield contest winners. Experts will also discuss policy issues impacting growers and offer reminders for 2025 spring preparations.
Executive Director Jody Pollok-Newsom highlighted Michigan’s strong wheat yields and the opportunities for further improvement. The event will also include updates from the Michigan Wheat Program, a miller’s perspective on the industry, and the Great Lakes Yield Enhancement Network's achievements.
