Westvale-View Dairy, located in Nashville, Michigan, has been recognized as the 2024 Dairy Farm of the Year by Michigan State University's Department of Animal Science. Westendorp's dedication to quality, efficiency, and innovation has made Westvale-View Dairy and MOO-ville Creamery a remarkable success story.
Established in 1992, Westvale-View Dairy, spanning 1,000 acres, began with 50 milk cows and has since evolved into a thriving operation of 240 Holsteins, producing over 100 pounds of milk per cow daily. The family-run business expanded in 2005 with the introduction of MOO-ville Creamery, now boasting four retail locations and over 140 retail stores featuring their products.
Westendorp's commitment to technological advancement is evident with the incorporation of Lely milking robots in 2012, showcasing a passion for innovation. The family-centric operation, involving wife Louisa and children, contributes actively to both the dairy and creamery's success.
Doug Westendorp's dedication extends beyond his farm; he gives back to the dairy community through roles like serving on the Advisory Committee for Michigan Milk Producers Association. The farm's accolades include the 2018 Michigan Holstein Association's Master Breeder Award and a gold award in the National Dairy Quality Awards in 2009.
MSU's recognition applauds Westendorp's educational support and contributions to the dairy community, showcasing the values that make Westvale-View Dairy a deserving recipient of the 2024 Dairy Farm of the Year.
