MSU Seeks Input from New Farm Managers Through Quick Survey

By Andi Anderson

Michigan State University Extension is calling on new farm managers to share their insights through a brief online survey.

The feedback will help improve and expand the Developing and Educating Managers and New Decision-makers (DEMaND) Series, a resource designed to strengthen farm business and financial management skills.

The DEMaND Series offers support to beginning farm decision-makers through a range of practical tools and educational content. The goal is to help new managers build confidence in financial planning, analyze farm needs, evaluate risks, and make informed business decisions that lead to long-term growth and profitability.

The program currently includes:

  • Educational Bulletins: These are beginner-friendly, clearly written guides that explain financial concepts using real-world examples.
  • Webinar Programs: These sessions include expert lectures, interactive discussions, and detailed case studies to help users learn in a collaborative setting.
  • Educational Videos: Short, focused videos—each under five minutes—target key concepts in farm finance and management for easier learning and quick review.

To help MSU Extension better understand what works and what could be improved, a quick survey is now available.

The survey takes less than seven minutes and includes three parts: feedback on existing content, suggestions for future topics, and some basic demographic questions to help tailor resources to user needs.

Farmers are encouraged to visit the DEMaND Series website to access resources and take the survey via Qualtrics. Your input will help MSU Extension continue to deliver timely, useful tools for today’s farm leaders.

Take a few minutes to shape the future of farm management education—and help MSU help you.
