The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Business Cooperative Service has announced more than $24 million in investments in the Muskegon, Michigan, area. Betsy Dirksen Londrigan, Administrator of USDA Rural Development, visited several businesses to highlight the projects benefiting from these funds.
One of the major investments is a new marina project at Adelaide Pointe, the first new marina in Michigan in 30 years. The project, featuring 169 boat slips, was supported by USDA Business Program Loans.
“USDA invests in rural America because we understand that a strong community is built on its people,” said Dirksen Londrigan. “Thanks to the leadership of the Biden-Harris Administration, we are proud to collaborate with Michigan businesses to create a more affordable, sustainable future for rural families and enterprises.”
In addition to the marina, two local businesses, Aldea Coffee and Trinity Equipment, received Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grants to install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
These renewable energy investments will help the businesses reduce their energy costs while contributing to sustainability goals.
Through these loans and grants, the USDA aims to strengthen rural communities by supporting economic growth and sustainable development in the Muskegon area.
The USDA’s commitment to rural America, backed by significant financial support, ensures that local businesses can thrive while promoting renewable energy initiatives that benefit the environment.
These projects represent the USDA’s ongoing efforts to invest in rural areas across the U.S., helping create opportunities and promote sustainability for future generations.
