Ryan Benthem, a dairy farmer from McBain, Michigan, has been named the 2023 Michigan Milk Producers Association Outstanding Young Dairy Cooperator. Benthem was selected from a pool of applicants who were judged on their farming operations, farm-related and community activities, and demonstrated leadership abilities.
Benthem and his family farm 4,500 acres and operate a 3,450-cow dairy. They are committed to sustainability and have a forward-thinking mindset. They are always looking for new ways to be more efficient and less wasteful of resources.
Benthem is also active in his community. He is a member of the local dairy board and is involved in several other organizations. He is passionate about dairy farming and is committed to making a positive impact on the industry.
As the Outstanding Young Dairy Cooperator, Benthem will represent MMPA at various industry and association activities. He will also have the opportunity to network with other young dairy farmers and learn from leaders in the industry.
