U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced a significant investment by the USDA to support clean energy projects across nearly every state.
Funded by the Inflation Reduction Act, this $256 million initiative targets agricultural producers and rural businesses in 40 states, enhancing access to renewable energy sources and promoting economic growth.
This funding will facilitate more than 1,100 projects ranging from solar installations to bio-methane production.
Examples include IPR Fresh in Arizona, which received over $350,000 to install a solar power system, and Tinedale Project in Wisconsin, which secured a $22 million loan for a dairy manure anaerobic digester to produce renewable natural gas.
These projects reflect the Administration's commitment to a sustainable economy and the creation of new jobs in rural areas. They also align with the Justice40 Initiative, ensuring that 40% of the benefits from federal investments support disadvantaged communities.
By investing in renewable energy, the USDA aims to reduce energy costs, bolster local economies, and support America's climate goals. This initiative marks a pivotal step towards building more resilient and environmentally friendly agricultural and rural communities.
