Brian Pridgeon, a prominent figure in the Montgomery pork industry and a valued member of Branch County Farm Bureau, has been recognized with the prestigious Master Pork Producer Award by the Michigan Pork Producers Association. This accolade acknowledges his exceptional achievements in pork production and his active role in advancing the Michigan swine industry.

After graduating from Central Michigan University, Pridgeon initially pursued a master's degree in communications, uncertain about his future career path. However, in 2007, he returned to his family's farm, where he became a partner alongside his father and uncle. Since then, their operation in southern Michigan has flourished, marketing an impressive 75,000 hogs annually.

Reflecting on his journey, Pridgeon expresses his deep enjoyment of working closely with the animals and cherishing the farm life. He fondly recalls moments when he reconnects with his inner child, relishing the bond with his grandfather and the joy of tending to the farm.

Michigan boasts a thriving pork industry, with over 2,000 hog farms contributing to the production of approximately 2.5 million hogs annually. This sector plays a vital role in the state's agricultural landscape, generating nearly $490 million in cash receipts each year.

Brian Pridgeon's dedication and passion for the swine industry have not gone unnoticed. Cody McKinley, vice president of operation and national and state relations for the National Pork Producers Council, commends Pridgeon's wholehearted commitment and valuable contributions. Pridgeon's involvement in various initiatives, including the Visioning Task Force, demonstrates his ability to foster collaboration and drive consensus within the industry.

For those acquainted with Brian Pridgeon, his unwavering dedication is unmistakable. His recognition as a Master Pork Producer underscores his significant impact on pork production in Branch County and his invaluable leadership within the Michigan swine industry.
