Dirt to Glass 2023 Conference Unites Michigan Grape and Wine Industry Stakeholders

Michigan State University AgBioResearch, in partnership with Michigan State University Extension and Intentional Agriculture, will host the highly anticipated Dirt to Glass 2023 conference. Taking place on August 24 and 25 in Traverse City, the event aims to showcase international viticulture and winemaking standards while providing valuable insights and practical information to grape growers and wine producers in Michigan and neighboring states.

Dirt to Glass 2023 has been designed to empower attendees with advanced research innovations and equip them with the tools necessary to enhance their craft and stay ahead of industry trends. By bridging the gap between academia and practitioners, the conference will create a vibrant community of growers and producers, fostering collaboration and innovation in viticulture and winemaking across the region.

A notable highlight of the conference is the meet and listen session, offering participants a unique opportunity to engage directly with key leaders from Michigan State University's College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR). This open dialogue platform, scheduled at the end of the first day, will enable stakeholders and industry professionals to interact with CANR leadership and discuss critical issues facing the grape and wine industry.

The session will feature introductions from prominent panelists, including MSU's interim provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, the dean of CANR, the director of AgBioResearch, and the director of MSU Extension. Following these introductions, attendees will have the chance to engage in a focused discussion, addressing industry-wide concerns and gaining insights into CANR's research initiatives and educational efforts.

Apart from the meet and listen session, Dirt to Glass 2023 offers a comprehensive experience for all those interested in Michigan's evolving grape and wine industry. Attendees can look forward to a variety of educational sessions, including a field day showcasing vineyard management practices and their impact on wine quality. The conference will also provide ample networking opportunities, allowing participants to connect with industry peers, experts, and MSU leaders from different sectors.
