Farming for the Future Field Day Returns to Michigan in 2026

By Andi Anderson

The Annual Farming for the Future Field Day will return on August 13, 2026, at the West Central Michigan Research & Extension Center in Hart, Michigan. The event is organized by the Oceana Conservation District, Michigan State University Extension, and the Oceana County Farm Bureau, with support from a Regenerative Agriculture Education and Outreach Grant provided by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Designed for farmers, landowners, and agricultural professionals, the event will focus on practical strategies to improve soil health, increase farm profitability, and enhance long-term sustainability. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore innovative farming practices through live demonstrations and educational presentations.

Topics scheduled for the field day include drone seeding of cover crops in asparagus production, regenerative mowing systems for fruit crops, electric weed control technology, soil health assessment techniques, and biological pest management approaches. Participants will also hear from regional fruit buyers who will discuss sustainability and regenerative agriculture initiatives within their organizations.

In addition to the educational sessions, attendees will be able to observe equipment demonstrations and learn about tools and practices that can be adopted on their own operations. Complimentary lunch, snacks, beverages, and door prizes will be provided during the event.

The field day will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the West Central Michigan Research & Extension Center, 5185 N. Oceana Drive, Hart, Michigan. Admission is free, but advance registration is required. Interested participants can register through www.oceanaconservation.org by the August 10, 2026 deadline.

The event offers a valuable opportunity for producers to gain hands-on knowledge and explore regenerative agriculture practices that support both environmental stewardship and farm success.
