Beginning farmers in Michigan have a new opportunity to build essential skills through free workshops hosted by Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC). These workshops are based on a new curriculum created by a team of experienced beginning farmer educators across the state.
The Land Access Workshops are specifically designed to support new and aspiring farmers. Participants will not only gain hands-on knowledge about starting a farm but also get the chance to offer valuable feedback to help shape the educational modules being developed.
Workshops will be held at the KVCC Food Innovation Center, located at 224 E Crosstown Parkway in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Each session will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., providing a convenient time for those working during the day.
This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in entering the farming profession, especially those looking for guidance on securing land, building a farm business, and understanding the challenges and resources available for new farmers.
In addition to learning practical farming skills, attendees will help refine the curriculum that will be used in future farmer training programs across Michigan.
For more details or to ask questions about the workshop series, participants can reach out to Hristina Petrovska at hpetrovska@kvcc.edu.
By attending, beginning farmers can take meaningful steps toward a successful career in agriculture while contributing to a program that supports the next generation of producers.
