Get Tickets Now for MSU Horse Farm Breakfast Event

By Andi Anderson

Michigan State University Extension invites families to its first-ever horse-focused Breakfast on the Farm event on August 2 at the MSU Horse Teaching and Research Center in Lansing.

The event, running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., includes a free farm-style pancake breakfast served until 12 noon and a self-guided tour of the working horse farm.

Visitors will learn about horse care, including housing, feeding, grooming, manure management, veterinary practices, transportation, and forage production.

MSU specialists, industry professionals, and volunteers will be stationed throughout the farm to answer questions and share knowledge. The farm is home to 62 Arabian horses, offering a unique look into equine education and careers.

Breakfast on the Farm is a long-standing MSU Extension program launched in 2009. Over the past 16 years, it has attracted more than 92,000 visitors across 42 events on dairy, beef, crop, and apple farms.

This year marks the first time the event is held at a horse facility, giving attendees a new perspective on agriculture and equine management.

Guests will park at the Farm Bureau Pavilion, 4301 Farm Lane, Lansing, and take a shuttle bus to and from the horse center. The event is free, but tickets are required for the breakfast.

Tickets can be reserved online at https://events.anr.msu.edu/BreakfastontheFarm/

Paper tickets are available at several MSU Extension offices in Charlotte, East Lansing, Howell, Jackson, Lansing, and Mason.

This fun and educational experience offers the whole family a chance to connect with agriculture, see how horses are raised and cared for, and enjoy a delicious breakfast on the farm.
