Dairy farmers and producers now have an opportunity to receive financial support to expand their operations. The Dairy Business Innovation Alliance (DBIA) has opened applications for its Dairy Business Builder Grant, aimed at helping small and mid-sized dairy businesses grow and diversify.
The grant program supports projects such as farm diversification, on-site dairy processing, the creation of value-added dairy products, and efforts to expand market reach, including exports. This funding helps sustain the dairy industry by promoting innovation and economic growth.
Since being established in the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill, DBIA has provided over $20 million in grants to more than 250 dairy businesses across the Midwest. In previous funding rounds, 44 dairy businesses received a total of $3.5 million. Among the recipients were two Michigan-based companies, Leelanau Cheese Company and Reny Picot – Old Europe Cheese, Inc.
Eligible dairy businesses can apply for reimbursement grants of up to $100,000. The selection process is competitive, ensuring that funding goes to projects with strong potential for impact and sustainability.
To assist potential applicants, DBIA will host a webinar on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1 p.m. Central Time. This session will provide details about the grant, eligibility requirements, and the application process. Interested participants can register for the webinar through the DBIA website.
Applications for the Dairy Business Builder Grant must be submitted by 5 p.m. Central Time on April 2, 2025. The selected grant recipients will be announced in late May 2025.
Dairy businesses looking to enhance their operations through diversification and innovation are encouraged to apply. More details about the grant program, past recipients, and the application process can be found on the DBIA website.
