Wheat growers can now register for the Great Lakes Yield Enhancement Network (YEN), an innovative program designed to help farmers unlock their crop’s yield potential. Registration closes February 7, 2025, and includes a $300 participation fee.
This unique initiative, launched in the Great Lakes region in 2021, connects farmers, agronomists, academics, and industry experts to analyze and compare crop performance. Participants share data on soil, tissue, and plant analysis throughout the growing season. Each grower receives a detailed, field-specific report at the end of the season, providing insights into how their wheat crop performed and how they compare to peers.
What Participants Gain
- Personalized reports with data-driven insights
- Opportunities to benchmark performance
- Access to regional events for further learning
Why Register Early?
Jody Pollok-Newsom, Executive Director of the Michigan Wheat Program, emphasizes the need for early registration: “We need time to prepare sampling kits and onboard new participants with database access before the growing season starts.”
Program Highlights
The Great Lakes YEN, inspired by a successful UK initiative, has grown to support farmers in the U.S. and Canada. By analyzing factors like environment, soil, and management, the program helps identify practices to improve yields.
