Michigan Farm Tour Celebrates Organic Innovation

Michigan Farm Tour Celebrates Organic Innovation

By Andi Anderson

A special farm tour in Berrien County will take place on July 31, 2026, giving visitors the chance to explore three outstanding farms that focus on organic agriculture, regenerative growing, and agritourism.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is free for all attendees. The tour begins at Tower Hill Farm at 4448 Naomi Road in Sodus, Michigan. Directions for the other farms will be shared with registered participants.

Organized to support learning and connection within the farming community, the tour offers a hands on look at how local farms grow food while caring for the land. This event is an excellent opportunity for farmers, students, and community members to see sustainable agriculture in action.

The morning will begin with a visit to Tower Hill Farm, a certified organic orchard and vegetable farm known for apples, blueberries, and a wide range of vegetables. The farm highlights strong stewardship values through its orchard management, hoop houses, and market barn. Here, visitors will learn how organic practices support both productivity and soil health.

Next, the tour will continue to Flatwater Farms, where visitors will enjoy a fresh lunch and a tour. This certified organic farm grows more than 40 types of vegetables, herbs, and hops. Flatwater Farms uses geothermal energy, beekeeping, and soil building techniques to enrich the land. The farm also grows hops for its onsite farmhouse brewery, making it a lively example of food, creativity, and community coming together.

The final stop will be Granor Farm, one of Michigan’s most well-known certified organic farms. Granor grows more than 100 varieties of vegetables, grains, herbs, and flowers. The farm is recognized for its greenhouse dinners, educational programs, and beautiful farm store. Visitors will see how Granor blends farming with food culture to create meaningful learning experiences.

The tour is designed to help participants understand the importance of organic farming and agritourism in Southwest Michigan’s food system. It promises a full day of learning, inspiration, and connection.
